Phaethon

Reader’s Response:

Title: Phaethon
Genre: Greek Mythology
Student’s Name: Beatriz Zambrano Serrano
Pages: 842-843

1.    Identify and explain the meaning of a symbol in the story in a complete sentence.

Styx in Greek Mythology symbolizes the river around Hades, which is the kingdom of the dead. When the dead approaches you, a ferry takes the people across the river.

2.    State the theme and defend it in a paragraph using details

The theme in the story basically explains how we have the present deserts in Africa and Arabia. We have deserts because Phaethon, the Sun’s god sun wasn’t powerful enough to carry the Sun with the horses across the heavens.

3.    Describe the main internal and external conflict

The main internal conflict is that Phaethon doesn’t believe that he can’t do his father’s job. He thinks that because he is his son he is as powerful as him, but no mortal is as powerful as a God.

4.    Compare the lesson learned in this story to a similar lesson you or someone you know has experienced

When someone tells you that you can’t do something because it’s dangerous for you, you have to obey. My sister didn’t when our father told her not to go to a party in the Capitol, and she got hurt, same as Phaethon.

5.    Compare the symbols in the story to a similar lesson you or someone you know has experienced.

The river Hades is a symbol of death, as it is a human skull, or cadavers. A Stop signal is a symbol that tells you to stop because it is dangerous, and we have to obey because we can hurt someone by not following directions.

6.    Compare the struggle in the story to a similar lesson you or someone you know has experienced

When someone tells you that you can’t do something because it’s dangerous for you, you have to obey. My sister didn’t when our father told her not to go to a party in the Capitol, and she got hurt, same as Phaethon.

Rap Poetry Song

Best Friends:

YOU are my best friend
Until the last end

Without you my friend, without you,
I do not know what I would do.

I love you so much I can not
just let you go, no- no-

I remember what we used to do
What we have been through

I miss those beautiful days
When we lived happily by our ways

YOU are my best friend
Until the last end

Now we are not together,
I miss you altogether

I miss party,
you smarty

All those sleep over
When we fall over

When we dressed up
And painted our cups

YOU are my best friend
Until the end

Although we are not together
You’ll be my heart for ever

I miss you so much,
I want to give up

If I cry, I want you with me,
Standing by the bay tree

I tried hard to forget ,
But I am to upset

YOU are my best friend
Until the end

YOU are my best friend
Until the end

YOU are my best friend
Until the end…

Picture Poem

Picture Poem, Pumpkin:

Pumpkin, Terrifying, Scary -
Looking at me with its evil eyes,
 Haunting me in my dreams

Pumpkin, blowing up like an enormous balloon,
Having boogers on its nose, licking it with its long tongue -
being in the fabulous world of Cinderella

 Transforming into a zombie ,
 Eating its own brain ,
In the woods near my house

Being persecuted by a murderer
That actually is itself, the pumpkin,
In a deserted and black labyrinth

Opposite Poems

Opposite Poems:

What is the opposite of funny?
 dolphin acting dummy.

What is the opposite of beautiful?
A world that is never been colorful.

What is the opposite of sweet?
A boy that will never never cheat.

What is the opposite of peace?
A horrible and mean police.

What is the opposite dream?
A cake with a sour cream.

Creed

Bea’s Creed:

I believe in succeeding,

   The honor the humans have,

   The gratitude we must demonstrate,

   The braveness inside of us,

   The beauty of life,

   Love, Honor, Respect

But I don’t believe in complete peace, because

it is pointless while  humans command this world

   I believe in Spain,

   I believe in me,

   I believe in my dreams,

   Love, Honor, Respect

And I believe that everybody should accomplish their mission in life

because that is what we were created for.

Sense Poem, Volcano

Comparing animals with nature poem:

Explodes aggressively with a roar

 Excited capturing it’s pray

Jumping and Running

Not stopping once

And when it finally does

Chaos, is left

 Miserable,

Horrible,
