Persuasive Essay

Just say no

Would you imagine watching your kids going to work every single day? Take a minute and think of this question, do you really think that it is a good idea to have kids working as if they were adults? It would be a dreadful suggestion because those children would have no education at all. They would only be in 7th or 8th Grade when they get out of school. Is that really good for them? Also, they do not have the maturity enough to handle a job. And, would not they miss their entire childhood? Having 12 and 13 years old working should be a malevolent action.

The children would not have education because they are only in 7th or 8th Grade. They would have to graduate before those grades. And of course, they would not have the knowledge enough to work. Imagine they are working at a bank, children are never in contact with such a big quatity of money. They would have an enormous probability of losing, or even stealing it. Besides, would you deposit all your savings into children’s hands? I have no doubt I would not commit such a terrible mistake. They did not even go to college, how are they going to work?

Supposing that children could have the possibility of working being in such low grades, what would happen to all the universities in the world? The universities would have to close. Every single one of them. Tones of people would lose their jobs, professors would have no employment because no one would go to college anymore. Also, what would happen to the high-school teachers? High school’s teachers would also lose their jobs because the students would not go to high school. What would happen to these schools? No one would want to pay for the education if they can work with such a young age and earn money. They would think of the money they make, and most of the population would not be educated at all. What would happen to the child’s future? They would have to spend all their lives doing the same labor. If they want to change jobs because they find out that it is unsuitable for them, they would not have the possibility. No one would ever want to hire a non-educated-forty- year old man. Students should graduate at their age and not before.

Do you really think that a teenager have the maturity enough to have a job? In school we see every day young girls and boys joking around, playing soccer, laughing… However, we also see that most of the students do not pay attention in classes. You cannot do that while working. You cannot just not pay attention of what you are doing because, it is boring, stressful, or just because you do not feel like it. Students might do that in school, but you must not do that at work. In there, you have to try your best. Do you think that a thirteen-year-old girl in a plane teenage life is going to worry about anything but make-up and clothes? She would think it is too hard to work at a restaurant, and see would quit the second day. And what about boys. at that age, they are only thinking about having fun, would they be able to get up every day at six in the morning to clean the cold and barren streets? Is it safe to have children working? They need responsibility. Responsibility is only acquired as the people grow up. Children cannot change in a day or two, they need time.

These students would have no childhood at all. We would not hear children’s laughter or children playing games with their friends anymore because they would all be too busy working. We would see teenagers dressed up in suits acting like grown-ups when they are really not. Kids ought not to be worrying about money, working in a bank, in a nucleus factory, getting up every day to clean the streets or working in a restaurant eighteen hours a day. Can you imagine twelve-year olds, not even teenagers yet, working eighteen hours a day? Children should be at parks playing around with their friends. They should not be worrying about how much money they earn, taxes, or about saving money for their families.

Students at twelve and thirteen years old must not work. They should be playing around with their friends at parks, learning bit by bit everyday of how to be mature and responsible enough for a proximate future. They ought to go to elementary and middle school, and after to university where they would learn how to be good citizens. There, they would have the chance to enjoy and have fun while learning. Every kid should have a childhood. Would you imagine having missed yours? Seeing all of this reasons of why children must not work, I am glad you are convinced that you must never vote “Yes.” Say no to children losing their childhood, say no to students losing their education. Being able to work at twelve or thirteen years old should be a crime punished with prison!
